Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) | Michigan Expungement Lawyers

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • What are my chances of getting my conviction set aside?

  • While it is difficult to qualify in Michigan, if you are eligible for an expungement, our record of getting motions to set aside convictions granted are very high (well over 90%). That being said, ultimately it is the judges decision in his discretion whether or not to grant the motion.

  • Do I have to go in front of a judge?

  • Yes. You will have to go in front of the judge in the same court room that convicted you for a hearing.

  • Will an attorney be with me in court?

  • Absolutely. Once you meet with us, we will take care of everything else. We will advocate on your behalf during the hearing and file all paperwork for you.

  • How much does it cost?:

  • The cost on these motions vary based on the underlying conviction, where the court is located and other factors. We accept credit card payments, offer payment plans and will do everything we can to work with you. In addition, unlike many other attorneys, we don’t charge for additional expenses and costs for filing motions or getting the required paperwork. The price we tell you is the price you pay, not a penny more, guaranteed.

  • What do I need to get started?

  • All we need from you to get started is your fingerprints on a fingerprint card. You can get a copy of your fingerprints at your local sheriffs office. Note that many police stations discontinued fingerprinting through fingerprint cards. You should call ahead to see if your sheriffs office or police station does them.

  • What happens after the judge signs the motion?

  • The judge signing the motion is often only the beginning of the process. While the information is taken off of your record, often times many private companies who perform background checks for employers will not update their record. As part of your services, we will also update many of these companies so their records will be accurate.
